David K. Yates is a Los Angeles–based creative director, designer, and principal of DK Yates Inc. For over fifteen years, he has served as the independent creative lead for InterCommunications Inc, further refining the core brand strategy, positioning, and visioning behind the agency’s signature “Imaging Places” methodology. His practice focuses on building foundational, story-driven visual language systems required to define and inspire global destinations, resorts, master-planned communities, private clubs, islands, estates, and UHNW residential developments.
Through the transformative potential of design, he guides cross-functional teams and clients through an open, collaborative process—merging and shaping strategic vision with distinct visual language and digital experience. As a creative leader, David prioritizes clear communication and creative mentorship, providing design teams both a strong creative framework and room to grow.
Following his tenure in the U.S. Coast Guard, David’s design career has focused on building global brands across the Americas, Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. His work has received recognition from the Webby Awards, the American Advertising Federation, and The Nationals (NSMC).
